Freddy Bradburn: Music
cartoonland
(Freddy Bradburn/Chelsea Richardson)
This is the live introduction/performance on Mountain Stage. So few of my friends actually got to hear the broadcast I thought I'd put it here for a while.
Cartoonland (recorded with capo on second fret)

Mom and dad in the next

room,
D/F# Em7
And I was watching my
CaddD
cartoons.
An anvil fell on Coyote’s head.
He was squashed but he was not dead.
Mom and dad arguing loud enough
That I had to turn the TV up.
A bomb blew up in coyote’s face.
Blew him all the way into outer space.
C
Chorus: And no one was

hurt.
D/F# Coyote got up, dusted
Em7
off his shirt.
C And that was easy to
G
understand.
D/F# Made perfect sense in
Em7 C
cartoonland.
Mom threw the bottle across the room.
They were in their own cartoon.
Dad drew back to slap her face.
Said I’m going to knock you onto outer space.
But mom was quicker than his hand.
Hit him in the head with the frying pan.
Dad went down like a sack of lead.
I looked for the stars above his head.
Chorus: And someone could get hurt.
Dad got up and dusted off his shirt.
His head was not the shape of the frying pan.
He could use some help from Cartoonland.

Understands.
Put on my Zorro mask and grabbed my sword.
Did not know which one to run toward.
I said “Stop it, just stop it you two,
Or I’m going to have to run you through.”
And someone could get hurt.
I got up, dusted off my shirt.
With the sword still in my hand.
I could use some help from Cartoonland.
